Makes 2 servings:

1-2 large pieces of turmeric root peeled

1 1/2" piece ginger root (peeled if not organic)

1 large lemon

1 dash cayenne pepper per glass

1 sprinkle black pepper per glass

 

Juice the turmeric, ginger and lemon. Divide the shots into 2 glasses and add the cayenne pepper and black pepper separately - We guzzle this quickly! 

If you don't have a juicer but have a high powered blender like a Vitamix, an alternative is to make a golden tea later in the afternoon. I combine 1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk with a 1" piece of turmeric and a 1/2 inch piece of ginger with a 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, 3 dates and a dash or cayenne and black pepper. Some people like to add a small amount of coconut oil too. Sometimes I do and sometimes I go without.
